John Wells Captures first European Bowling Tour title

John Wells of England won his first European Bowling Tour title in the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2014 in the closest decision in EBT history. Wells tied defending champion Thomas Larsen of Denmark in the fourth and last Eliminator Round after two games, 429-429, and became the winner due to the “higher last game” rule.

Larsen had a three-pin lead after the first game, 256 to 253. Both players struggle in game two, but Wells managed to level the match with 176 to 173. As all ties in this tournament were broken by the higher last game, Wells emerged as the champion and received the 6.000 Euro top prize.

Larsen, who was targeting his fourth EBT title and the second consecutive in Tilburg, had to settle for second place, worth 4.000 Euro.

The two other players in the eliminator finals, Kamilla Kjeldsen of Denmark and PBA Hall of Famer Brian Voss, United States, were more than 70 pins behind after the first game and could not make up enough ground in the second game. Read complete story.
