Brunswick Signs Walter Ray Williams Jr. to Pro Staff
Hall of Famer and professional bowling all-time leading title winner, Walter Ray Williams, Jr., has joined the Brunswick Pro Staff. Williams joins an elite team of bowlers representing Brunswick on the Professional Bowlers Association Tour (PBA): Parker Bohn III, Ryan Ciminelli, Chris Loschetter, Sean Rash, and Tom Smallwood.
Williams has racked up a total of 85 career PBA 300 games. He has enjoyed many titles so far in his career with 39 standard titles, eight major titles and two senior titles. He holds the highest average of 229.56 in the 2011 senior season. Williams has a long list of career achievements. The most notable was the 2009-10 season where he swept every major statistical category. By winning two titles, that brought him to the record, all-time career titles of 47 and seventh Player of the Year honor. That season also brought Williams’ career earnings threshold to over $4 million, the first and only player to hold that honor. He won at least one PBA Tour title in 17 consecutive seasons (1993 through 2009-10), which is also a record.
Williams, who has been named PBA Player of the Year a record seven times, has been a member of the PBA for more than 30 years and says winning 47 PBA tour titles is the accomplishment he is most proud of.
“It’s nice to be back with Brunswick,” said Williams. “It is also great to know that they have confidence in me to be a part of their team. So far, I’ve bowled very well with all of the Brunswick balls I’ve been using. I have had the highest average in my last 3 PBA tournaments using Brunswick balls and am looking forward to continue great bowling with them.” Williams was a Brunswick Pro Staff member from early 1995 to late December 2000.
“Brunswick is very excited to welcome Walter Ray back to our Pro Staff,” said Nick Stickler, vice president Consumer and After-market products. “We have great line-up of bowlers on Tour, and we look forward to a great season.”
