US Open
Yesterday was a great day for us as a team. Most of the staff bowled very well, headlined by Fero Williams. Fero was in the lead by more than a hundred pins after the first day. He used the Loaded Revolver on the burn squad, which means the second squad bowled on the same pattern without a re-oil. He is bowling very well right now. He had a very successful weekend at the TNBA in Cleveland, where he finished third. He averaged 248.17 for six games yesterday. During the third game we had a short conversation about today on the fresh. He is not a huge fan of the fresh. Fero loves to throw it hard and is quite a bit of fun to watch bowl when the lanes hook. After his block we laid out a Revolver and Wild Card with really strong drillings, to get the ball started and to slow down, so he can keep control of the pocket.

Final Report on USBC Masters, Prepare for US Open
Last Friday was a very tough day for team Brunswick, we just could not get it done in the USBC Masters matches. Brad and Dave both lost in the fourth round. Dave had a chance to win, but Dino Castillo got a couple big breaks late to beat him by 20 pins for the three-game match. Brad, who had a very good week, just didn’t bowl real well in the fourth round, losing to Brian Himmler. Brad just may be a factor in the US Open as his game is getting better the last few weeks.

USBC Masters
It was a really strange day yesterday. Only two people were eliminated in the five-game position round, and thankfully, neither were on the Brunswick team. The matches started yesterday at 4:00 PM and some really crazy things went on. Walter Ray, who didn’t bowl well and did not even make the cut, got into the matches because he is the defending champ. He bowled number one seed Bill O’Neill and ran him over. Many of the top qualifiers are out, including Bill O’Neill, Wes Malott and Jason Belmonte.

Congratulations to the legendary Carmen Salvino on his best tournament in years. At 78 years young, he really had a great week. Game nine today he bowled a 276 and got himself to minus for the tournament. If he had just shot spares a little better he would have made the top 65.
Today was another 5 games for each squad with the cut to the top 65. It was pretty good day for Team Brunswick with almost everyone advancing to tomorrow.
